Warwick Davis has been a fixture in multiple franchises ranging from LEPRECHAUN to HARRY POTTER, but it was his role as Wicket the Ewok in RETURN OF THE JEDI that forever made him a part of the STAR WARS universe. Having appeared in both of the Ewoks TV movies as well as in STAR WARS: EPISODE I, Davis has not been a part of a STAR WARS movie for fifteen years. But, it looks like that is about to change.
When STAR WARS: EPISODE VII was announced, Davis was like many former actors from the saga who lobbied in the media for a role in the new film. Half-jokingly, Davis made a plea to Lucasfilm’s Kathleen Kennedy last year and found out during filming that J.J. Abrams had a role for him in the upcoming sequel.
It is unknown what role Davis will play in STAR WARS: EPISODE VII or if it will amount to much more than a cameo. With three weeks left in production, we don’t know if Davis has already filmed his part or not. Could he be playing Wicket the Ewok again? You never know with the amount of nostalgia in J.J. Abrams new film, but it is nice having yet another connection to the original trilogy.
See Warwick Davis‘ announcement below. STAR WARS: EPISODE VII opens on December 18, 2015.
