Uma Thurman says not doing Lord of the Rings was one of her worst decisions

The LORD OF THE RINGS trilogy remains one of the great cinematic landmarks of all time, raking in billions of dollars and a wheelbarrow of Oscars. Fans know those movies back to back, and the series has truly stood the test of time. So much of this is true that some actors are still kicking themselves for not jumping on the horse when they had the chance.

During an appearance on THE LATE SHOW WITH STEPHEN COLBERT, PULP FICTION and KILL BILL star Uma Thurman talked about how she was once offered the role of Eowyn in LORD OF THE RINGS, but decided to turn it down, a decision she regrets to this day:

It was a very long time ago, and I do consider it to be one of the worst decisions ever made. But I had just had my first child and, I don't know, I was a little housebound. … It's really definitely a regret.

The character of Eowyn was eventually played by Miranda Otto, and debuted in the second part of the story, THE TWO TOWERS, and would go on to kick some major Nazgul ass in RETURN OF THE KING.  Though she didn’t get to be in one of the greatest trilogies of all time, Thurman still cut out a legacy for herself in the KILL BILL movies, proving she could’ve shown Aragorn a thing or two.

It’s hard to picture anyone but Otto in the role now, but Thurman would’ve done a great job no doubt. That being said she really doesn’t need the movies on her résumé. She’s done just fine for herself thanks to other films, and has cemented a place of her own in the annals of film history. Although, with her in the LOTR maybe there would’ve been a little more groovy dancing. That was the only thing those movies were missing.
