The Twin Peaks’ revival is “happening again” according to David Lynch

Last Updated on August 5, 2021

Last month director David Lynch exited the Twin Peaks revival at Showtime saying that he "left because not enough money was offered to do the script the way I felt it needed to be done." While Lynch's exit didn't cause Showtime to pull the plug on the revival, it was definitely a big blow to the project. Showtime still held out hope that they could reach a deal with Lynch and now, it appears as though they have; David Lynch tweeted this message announcing the return of Twin Peaks:

Showtime President David Nevins also confirmed the good news in a statement released shortly afterwards:

This damn fine cup of coffee from Mark and David tastes more delicious than ever, totally worth the extra brewing time and the cup is even bigger than we expected. David will direct the whole thing which will total more than the originally announced nine hours. Preproduction starts now!!

Both Kyle MacLachlan (Agent Cooper) and Mädchen Amick (Shelly Johnson) tweeted their excitment as it was revealed the project was back on:

So not only is Twin Peaks back on with David Lynch at the helm, but we'll be getting more than nine episodes of it. Break out the coffee and pie folks!
