The Dark Knight Rises IMAX TV spot promises to destroy Gotham, plus a few new pics

Last Updated on August 5, 2021

I’ve heard many people complain about movies being shown in IMAX that don’t belong there (i.e. weren’t shot with IMAX cameras) and I tend to agree, although seeing even an upconverted pic in IMAX still trumps the smaller screens for my money.  That said, THE DARK KNIGHT RISES will feature more than an hour’s worth of IMAX shot footage (THE DARK KNIGHT featured 28 minutes of the same), which makes the IMAX experience for the film that much more enticing.  I’m sure once they are able to make the IMAX cameras a little smaller and easier to use then we’ll start seeing full-on features shot in the format, but until then, I’ll gladly take a full hour of a big-budget epic to keep me satiated.

Check out the IMAX spot:

And here’s a few new pics:

The final installment of Christopher Nolan’s Batman trilogy, THE DARK KNIGHT RISES, opens in traditional and IMAX screens on July 20, 2012 (that’s two weeks to the day!)
