The alternate opening for The Avengers has more Maria Hill and an attitude to boot

Last Updated on August 5, 2021

Some more deleted scene goodness has arrived for Marvel’s THE AVENGERS, this time in the form of an alternate opening, which radically changes the perspective of Maria Hill (Cobie Smulders) from the final film.  In the alternate opening, Hill is being questioned by The Council, who bring up her disdain for Nick Fury’s methods.  It’s a bit more in line with Hill’s comic book persona, but it contradicts her seemingly agreeable stance with Fury at the end of the theatrical cut of the film.

Have a look:

It’s always cool to see an alternate openings and endings and this is definitely interesting.  I can see why it was cut, both for Hill’s attitude and the potential of showing Captain America and the Hulk too soon, but it’s still a fun thing to see.

What do you think?  Do you prefer this opening to the theatrical one?

THE AVENGERS hits blu-ray and DVD on September 25, 2012.
