Star Wars: The Last Jedi has officially wrapped post-production

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

The film is finally completed, STAR WARS fans. After two years of waiting for more tales from the galaxy far, far away, the next chapter in the saga has placed its final period. STAR WARS: THE LAST JEDI has officially wrapped its post-production, and is ready for its December 15 release. And to think, it all happened without replacing the director.

Director Rian Johnson made the announcement via Instagram, saying that the film has finally wrapped, with three months left to spare before its release:

The movie started filming February of last year, and shooting wrapped that July, with reshoots and post taking place since then. This doesn’t mean we’re going to get a bevy of new details regarding the movie anytime soon, but we have heard rumblings that the next trailer will drop in the next week or so.

Not shocking news to hear, I know, but the feeling that the movie is all done and ready is one of pure, wonderful joy. What with all the stories we’ve heard over the last year about trouble with reshoots (ROGUE ONE) and director woes (HAN SOLO, EPISODE IX) the notion that the production on LAST JEDI went and has concluded so smoothly is, in a way, quite cathartic. We have less than three months to go before the flick comes out, and from now on it’s all big trailers, final posters, and good vibes.

STAR WARS: THE LAST JEDI arrives December 15 starring Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, Adam Driver, Carrie Fisher, Mark Hamill, Gwendoline Christie, Andy Serkis, Domhnall Gleeson and more.
