Normally I wouldn’t link you to another interview on another site because we do our own interviews here and we do a pretty good job of ’em. But a magazine like Rolling Stone can get access that we can’t get and can get stars like Robert Downey, Jr. to open up in those hours that we can’t get in a few minutes. But I will link you to this Downey, Jr. article at Rolling Stone not because it’s overloaded with scoops on IRON MAN 2 or AVENGERS or whatever, but because it shows how wonderfully out there Downey is. I’ll just throw out some quotes and you’ll have to head over to Rolling Stone to see them in context and try to figure out if even the context is enough to help you decipher what it is he’s talking about.
“You might forget that old girlfriend who tried to slit your throat, but she’s really still hot. If you remember the stitches more than you remember the pussy, you’re going to be just fine.”
“I mean, if the cosmos is a loving, healing thing that also spins real fast and erupts and does violent stuff, and if there really is some kind of order to the whole thing, then everything that’s led up to this moment has to be part of it, or the math doesn’t work.”
“Obligation is the mother of deformity.”
“I really am trying to live as much like a lizard as I can. Hot, rock, sun, fly, tongue.”
See? And that’s why we love the dude. Cause most people who talk like that we’d call a pompous douche on the spot but Downey is so goddamn likable that we accept what he’s saying as something intelligent that we just haven’t caught up with yet. You can read the article here at Rolling Stone.
