Paranormal Activity 4 finds a screenwriter

Paramount has hired a screenwriter for their upcoming PARANORMAL ACTIVITY 4.

The film will be written by Zack Estin, who is currently writing and producing ABC’s found footage horror series THE RIVER. Both THE RIVER and PARANORMAL ACTIVITY were created by Oren Peli.

No plot details have been revealed for the new film, but you can be sure it will involve found footage and ghosts. PARANORMAL ACTIVITY 3 directors Henry Joost and Ariel Schulman are set to return for the new film.

I am actually a fan of this series. The films play up the found footage trope very well, but there has to be a limit to how many video tapes one family owns. I have watched the entire first season of THE RIVER as well and, while well acted, I find it hard to believe they would keep stumbling into so many supernatural situations and catch everything on camera. But that is just me. Since the genre is so cheap to make and brings in such large returns, I am sure we will be repeating this same story each year for a while to come.

PARANORMAL ACTIVITY 4 hits screens October 19th, 2012.
