New poster for Edge of Tomorrow starring Tom Cruise and Emily Blunt

A new poster has dropped in for the Tom Cruise sci-fi actioner EDGE OF TOMORROW co-starring Emily Blunt, Bill Paxton, and Jeremy Piven which sees the two futuristic soldiers wielding their armored mech suits and ready to do battle. Directed by Doug Liman (MR. AND MRS. SMITH, THE BOURNE IDENTITY) and written by Christopher McQuarrie (based on the novel "All You Need Is Kill" by Hiroshi Sakurazaka) this looks like a hell of a lot of fun and terrific addition to the line-up of summer movies. Cruise is one of the most dependable stars working today when it comes to delivering a fun flick and this looks to continue the trend. Plus, Emily Blunt looks awesome in this. I mean, shit, look at her with that sword…

Here's the synopsis:

A soldier fighting in a war with aliens finds himself caught in a time loop of his last day in the battle, though he becomes better skilled along the way.

While I'd like to see Cruise tackle some more dramatic fare again, I'm enjoying his latest jaunt into the action hero market. He's got the right intensity and certainly the physicality to handle the mantle and he wears it well. With EDGE OF TOMORROW set for this summer and another MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE on the way, as well as a second JACK REACHER film, it looks like Cruise is going to continue to literally kick ass for a while and I'm just fine with that for now.

EDGE OF TOMORROW blasts into theaters on June 6, 2014 (D-Day!)
