New featurette and character posters for Olympus Has Fallen, starring Gerard Butler, Aaron Eckhart, and Morgan Freeman

In what would’ve been a better plot for the latest DIE HARD film, the new action thriller OLYMPUS HAS FALLEN, starring Gerard Butler, Aaron Eckhart, Morgan Freeman, Angela Bassett, Radha Mitchell, Ashley Judd, Melissa Leo, Cole Hauser, Rick Yune, and Dylan McDermott has a new featurette to further drive that point home.  Directed by Antoine Fuqua (TRAINING DAY) the film follows a former secret service agent (Butler) as he fights against a group of terrorists who have seized the White House.  The first trailer was released a while ago, which generated mixed feelings, seeing as a lot of the effects work are a little less than stellar, but I still think it looks like a fun time.  Of course I said the same thing about A GOOD DAY TO DIE HARD and look how that turned out…

Butler has had a difficult go of succeeding past his awesome portrayal of Leonidas in Zack Snyder‘s 300, jumping from the rom-com pics to over-the-top action films, none of them really solidifying him as a mainstay.  However, I think he’s got good charisma and can pull off the bad ass aspect with little effort.  The supporting cast here is pretty awesome to say the least, so he’s certainly got the best back-up one could have in a movie like this.  Hopefully, this will be a fun, silly action romp, rather than an embarrassing misfire.
