MST3K spin-off Rifftrax is coming to cable for a limited 3 episode series

If you are familiar with MYSTERY SCIENCE THEATER 3000, chances are you also have heard of RiffTrax. Featuring the same crew as the beloved MST3K, Rifftrax showcases stars Mike Nelson, Kevin Murphy and Bill Corbett. Murphy and Corbett, better known as Tom Servo and Crow T. Robot, along with human star Nelson mock movies to hilarious effect. Now, they are returning to television for a limited three episode run that will air on National Geographic beginning in just a few weeks.

According to Zap2It, RIFFTRAX will be coming to the cable network but it is unknown to what capacity. While MST3K featured a loose plot that involved Nelson and his robot crow stuck on the Satellite of Love where they were forced to watch and mock B-movies from the 1950s and 1960s, RiffTrax has focused on more contemporary and mainstream movies as recent as THE AVENGERS. Will the television debut of RiffTrax be a spoof of a major movie? It seems unlikely as it will be airing on a channel best known for science and nature documentaries, but don’t rule it out yet.

RiffTrax is set to debut on April 1st so stay tuned for details.
