Microsoft announces a live action Halo television series produced by Steven Spielberg

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

Alongside Microsoft’s annoucement of the Xbox One came another big piece of news that no one saw coming. Microsoft is developing a live action HALO television series that will be produced by Steven Spielberg! After a decade of planning and development on a feature film along with some pretty awesome commercials and web series, HALO is finally getting the “premium” treatment.

But, there is one catch. The only way you will be able to watch the HALO series will be if you own an Xbox. The Xbox One is being touted as an all-in-one system with some really cool new features, but this HALO news is unexpected. Spielberg’s involvement likely means they are going big budget. Even Spielberg produced series like FALLING SKIES have modest budgets but pull off impressive special effects. By having Microsoft control their own HALO production, they don’t need to worry about altering to meet any studio expectations. Plus, this will drive up interest in Xbox Live if no one else will carry the show.

It remains to be seen if any big name actors will join the project. HALO could end up being a bust or it could make Xbox the next Netflix. The new series has no expected release date, but let the chatter commence!
