Marion Cotillard confirms she is not Talia Al Ghul in The Dark Knight Rises

Last Updated on August 5, 2021

Ever since her casting in THE DARK KNIGHT RISES was announced, the internet has theorized that Marion Cotillard would be playing Talia Al Ghul, the daughter of BATMAN BEGINS villain Ra’s Al Ghul (Liam Neeson). In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, she officially puts those rumors to rest.

From the article: All she’ll confirm is that, contrary to some fans’ belief, she does not play Talia, the vengeful daughter of Ra’s Al Ghul, and that she takes the role of Miranda Tate, an ecologically minded businesswoman who “is fascinated by Wayne Enterprises. They go through difficulties, and she wants to help provide the world clean energies. She’s a good guy.” But does she stay that way? “Yes,” she insists.

Clean energies?  Sounds like Christopher Nolan may be sliding some environmentally conscious messages into his final Batman film.  But, villain or not, Cotillard will be some Oscar-winning eye candy when THE DARK KNIGHT RISES hits theaters in July.  She was great in INCEPTION and it will be interesting to see how much actual screen time she gets in this movie.  One thing is for sure, Nolan definitely wanted her in this movie, adjusting his filming schedule to accomodate Cotillard’s pregnancy.

Does not having Talia Al Ghul in THE DARK KNIGHT RISES change any of your plot predictions for the final film?

THE DARK KNIGHT RISES opens July 20th.
