Kirsten Dunst stars in a Romeo and Juliet tale only Upside Down

At first glance, UPSIDE DOWN doesn’t look like more than an excuse to tell the old Romeo and Juliet story while using some fancy visual FX. After watching the first trailer for the film, which stars Jim Sturgess and Kirsten Dunst, I can’t say I feel any differently.

The film stars Sturgess and Dunst as Adam and Eve (seriously?), a pair of star-crossed lovers kept apart by the very different worlds they live in. They are both part of a planet where two societies exist – one right side up and the other upside down (or is it vice versa?) – and never the two shall meet. Except the fall in love and the upside down people are like, “No, you can’t do that!” and the dude’s like, “I don’t care if she’s upside down, we’ll sleep head-to-toe!” and they run from the gravity law or whatever. It all sounds (and looks) fairly ridiculous.

UPSIDE DOWN shot in Montreal about two years ago and is just now getting a release in France (hence the subtitles). There is no US release date planned and it’s likely this will go direct-to-DVD here in the states. Check out the trailer below.
