Miss Meadows, played by Katie Holmes, has found the perfect disguise when she’s not moonlighting as a murderous vigilante. She plays a sweet and wholesome elementary school teacher. Perfect hair, smile, and a Sunday dress; she’s a killer alright. Watching the trailer for MISS MEADOWS it reminded me a lot of Bobcat Goldthwait’s GOD BLESS AMERICA, but without the funny satire. This dark looking drama might be a little too formula for some, but this one interests me.
Katie Holmes is a fine actress and has done some really fine work (DON'T BE AFRAID OF THE DARK, THANK YOU FOR SMOKING, PIECES OF APRIL), but it’s definitely time for her to step out of the typical roles she’s used to, and this might do the trick. The film was written directed by Karen Hopkins, of BECAUSE I SAID SO fame, so hopefully this is a change in the right direction for both ladies.
The film also stars James Badge Dale, Mary Kay Place, and Jean Smart.
MISS MEADOWS hits theaters November 14, 2014.
