Joss Whedon on The Avengers 2: “Death, Death and more Death!”

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

Whedon

Joss Whedon is going to be hitting the film festival circuit soon to promote MUCH ADO ABOUT NOTHING, his adaptation of the William Shakespeare play, and you know that that means right? Yep, plenty of opportunities for people to dig information about THE AVENGERS 2 out of him. Whedon was at the Jameson Dublin International Film Festival to receive a Volta award and attend the European premiere of his adaptation. A couple of people from The Movie Bit were at the screening and the Q&A that followed, and of course someone asked Whedon about THE AVENGERS 2. He responded with:

I can’t do any bigger, so I’m trying to do better.

When asked what his philosophy would be for the sequel, apparently a giant shit-eating grin appeared on Joss Whedon‘s face and he said:

Death, death, and more death!

Well what could this mean? Is Joss Whedon hungry for more blood after killing Agent Coulson? Is he going to kill off another fan favorite? Or maybe he is referring to the Thanos cameo at the end of THE AVENGERS (see video below) and in doing so hinting that Mistress Death will indeed have a major part in the sequel?

Lots of time to speculate, since THE AVENGERS 2 isn’t going to be released until May 1st, 2015.
