UPDATED: From Fringe to Star Wars: Could John Noble be the villain in Episode VII?

The dudes over at Moviehole have debunked the John Noble appearing in STAR WARS: EPISODE VII rumor. Turns out that not only did the DJs have no source to the rumor, they never actually said it. Thanks rumor-mongers!

Consider this one of the first casting rumors for STAR WARS: EPISODE VII. If it turns out to be true, I will be completely sold on whatever J.J. Abrams has planned for the movie.

An Australian radio show host claims that she “has it on very good authority that Aussie actor John Noble will be appearing as the villain” in STAR WARS: EPISODE VII. There is nothing to substantiate this, but now that this is out there, I want to throw my complete support behind it. John Noble did an incredible job as Walter Bishop on the recently concluded FRINGE (ahem, J.J. Abrams connection!) and played the scummiest bad guy not from Mordor in THE LORD OF THE RINGS. His performance as Denethor made me want to punch him in the face through the screen. But, that goes to show how perfectly he can portray a bad guy.

We have no idea what the plot of STAR WARS: EPISODE VII will be, but if we can get Noble in there, even as a good guy, I am in favor of the casting. it is always dangerous to cast before the script is even written, but going on the fact that George Lucas had written the basic outline for the next trilogy prior to the Disney merger lends to the possibility that Abrams and crew are trying to look to fill the concrete roles.

STAR WARS: EPISODE VII will arrive sometime in 2015 or later.
