In July we learned an extended version of X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST was in the works, and yesterday at a press event, writer/producer Simon Kinberg announced it will be released in the first half of 2015. The "Rogue Cut" will likely hit stores sometime next summer, and will (obviously) include Anna Paquin's scenes as Rogue that were cut from the Bryan Singer movie.
Simon Kinberg on the cut scenes and Rogue:
It’s a big chunk, a substantial part of the movie. We want to give (fans) the fullest picture of the film — behind the camera, and in front of it…Every movie has scenes that are cut out, but not every movie has scenes cut out with such a beloved character.
The "Rogue Cut" will have 10 minutes of new footage, and will also include scenes featuring other characters besides Rogue. That's it for details on the new cut, but at the event Simon Kinberg called X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST "the most complicated movie" he has ever worked on," and also said, “I pray to God I never work on another time travel movie."
While I doubt the new stuff will make X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST a better movie since it was already pretty damn awesome to begin with, it'll be fun to check out what didn't make it in the theatrical version of the movie.
X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST will be released on DVD and Blu-ray on October 14, 2014, and you can pre-order it here.
