First unofficial look at Denzel Washinton in character for the comic adaptation 2 Guns

Last Updated on August 5, 2021

Today we have our first unofficial look at Denzel Washington in character on the set of 2 GUNS, an adaptation of the Boom! Studios comic by Steven Grant and Mat Santolouco.  Washington plays Trench, a DEA agent, who is actually a white guy with long, blonde hair in the comics.  The second gun in the 2GUN double-pack is Mark Wahlberg, who plays Steadman, a Naval Intelligence Officer.

Here’s Denzel with a hat and gold teeth:

Here’s the synopsis for the comic to clear everything up:

A pulp story about cops and thieves and the men that are something in between. Trench has targeted a local bank to rob, and asked Steadman in on the job. Trench figures it’s a great way to score — considering it’s a cover for mob money. They’ll be thieves ripping off thieves. But what Steadman doesn’t know is that Trench is a DEA agent. And what Trench doesn’t know is that Steadman’s a Naval Intelligence officer. They’re both cops! And neither one knows that they’re not robbing the mob, they’ve been set up to steal $50 million from the CIA! A light-hearted crime romp in the vein of Ocean’s Thirteen and The Italian Job from comics legend, Steven Grant!

The pic is directed by Baltasar Kormakur who last helmed Wahlberg in the crime caper, CONTRABAND.  Lucky for all of us, the absolutely stunning Paula Patton is re-teaming with her DEJA VU co-star to join the film, as well as a bang up supporting cast, including James Marsden, Bill Paxton, and Edward James Olmos (as the villain).  Based on the tone of the comic and the casting, this is shaping up to be next years RED…well, except for RED 2.

2 GUNS is set to open sometime in 2013.

Denzel in his cool guy clothes is nowher near as cool as this…
