Creepy new poster for the Carrie remake, featuring Julianne Moore and updated release date

UPDATE: Word from the Twittersphere is that this may be a fake. Out of all the movies that people could run fake posters for, why CARRIE?  Weird.  Anyway, there it is.

The recent news of the CARRIE remake being shifted from it’s spring release date to October was a big change, but a positive one in most fans’ eyes.  Given that the EVIL DEAD remake was vying for your attention just a few weeks away from that time slot, producers looked to open the Chloe Moretz-starring CARRIE to a more horror-worthy month, making it a solid entry for the Halloween crowd.  The Kimberly Peirce-directed remake of the Brian DePalma film, adapted from the novel by Steven King (phew!) now has a little more time to market and build some hype.

Case in point, this new poster, featuring Julianne Moore as Carrie’s mother, looking as scary and freaky as can be.  Moore brings considerable clout to the role and I think it’s cool that she’s taking on a role outside her usual high-profile awards fare to do something, well, fun.

This is, of course, similar to the initial poster, which featured Moretz.  I wouldn’t be surprised if we see a few more character-themed posters like this roll down the pipe before the film’s release.  Now, get us a new trailer!

CARRIE is set to unleash hell on October 18, 2013.
