In riffing off the report that Disney and 21st Century Fox are apparently "closing in" on a deal to "activate their Wonder Twin powers", Captain America and Human Torch star Chris Evans has shared his idea for a film crossover of dimension-shattering proportions.
You can check out the pitch below:
So who do I talk to about a Cap/Human Torch buddy comedy spin-off? I’m thinking Planes, Trains and Automobiles meets Parent Trap. https://t.co/3KRPZOVzq2

Evans is merely joking around, of course, though I must admit that there's a very large part of me that would pay good money to see that movie made. You see, before the MCU officially launched, Evans starred as Johnny Storm in FANTASTIC FOUR and its sequel FANTASTIC FOUR: RISE OF THE SILVER SURFER. Neither of the films were very good, though in my opinion, elements of them were far better than anything displayed via Josh Trank's most recent adaptation of Marvel's first family. With that said, Evans also stars as Steve Rogers a.k.a. Captain America for Marvel's Cinematic Universe. To see the two characters crossover into a sigular film would mean all kinds of wacky space/time events would need to occur, and honestly, that's what much of comics is all about.
If you stop and think about it for a moment, the idea of a superhero project inspired by the films PLANES, TRAINS, AND AUTOMOBILES and THE PARENT TRAP could potentially have comedy gold written all over it. With the proper writing staff, a fun director, and a studio that is willing to allow the story to be as cosmic as necessary, Evans could really be onto something here.
You can catch Chris Evans as Captain America in AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR when it arrives in theaters on May 4, 2018.
