Last month, we told you about Mark Wahlberg signing on to a then untitled Peter Berg directed drama about infamous 1970s drug kingpin Jon Roberts. Roberts was the subject of the 2006 documentary COCAINE COWBOYS and it seems, at least according to Page Six, that the film will be a feature remake of the documentary. What’s more, Wahlberg has apparently convinced Leonardo DiCaprio to co-star as, according to an insider, “the airplane pilot who travels with Mark’s character to obtain kilos of cocaine from Pablo Escobar.” No word on Berg but it’s assumed he’s still on board to direct. The ridiculously in-demand Wahlberg can next be seen in M. Night Shams’ ecological thriller THE HAPPENING, Peter Jackson’s fantastical-ish drama/thriller THE LOVELY BONES, as the titular raging, melancholic DEA agent MAX PAYNE and in Darren Aronofsky’s upcoming drama THE FIGHTER. The equally in-demand DiCaprio can next be seen in the Ridley Scott drama BODY OF LIES, re-teams with Kate Winslet in the drama REVOLUTIONARY ROAD and recently signed on to the live action AKIRA.
