The only way for the production team behind I AM LEGEND to spend more money at this point would be to somehow finance the resurrection of Jesus. Apparently for one particular scene (when shooting took place for six consecutive nights) the production had a crew of two hundred and fifty, a thousand extras, one hundred and sixty members of the National Guard, four Department of Defense Humvees, three Styker armoured vehicles, a flotilla of Coast Guard boats, a Coast Guard helicopter, a Black Hawk Army helicopter and the original painting of the Mona Lisa, which crew members set on fire when they got cold. Okay, not really the Mona Lisa, but how ridiculous is that? This particular scene, which takes place on the Brooklyn Bridge, explains how Smith got to be the last human on Earth (the movie is based on the Richard Matheson novel about the only survivor of a lethal virus that has wiped out the world's population, leaving only mutant zombies types), and is, yes that's right, a flash back. This is pretty huge, but Will Smith is by far the most bankable star in Hollywood right now. He could take dumps in DVD cases and they would sell like hot-cakes, so there's no doubt this movie is gonna recoup. Click HERE to check out the full article, which alleges this scene alone could have cost almost $30 million!
Extra Tidbit:
THE OMEGA MAN is also a movie adaptation of the novel upon which I AM LEGEND is based.

WHERE HAVE I SEEN THAT BEFORE?

Isn't that the plot of 28 Days Later? |

While you don't have to see a movie to be disappointed in it, but to make a broad-base general assumption about a movie based on a rumors, rumors of rumors and really bad photographs pretty much lumps individuals into the same category as religious groups that protest movies based on false information. Sure it's fun to read about these rumors and see the pictures, but we're only getting a narrow view of a much, much broader picture. |

THE POINT?
Lot's of money to spend on a movie that's going to be a weak, dumbed down version of the awesome original story. I like Mr. Smith and all, but come on! The only time you throw THAT much cash at one scene is when you don't have anything else going on. |

*SIGH*
You know, you don't need to necessarily see something to be disappointed with it. Of course, I'll go see it, but it won't be anything like the book. It's not an action-adventure story, plain and simple. I kind of wish that Edgar Wright would direct an adaptation of I Am Legend. He'd do it right. |

THIS MOVIE'S GOING TO BLOW
How can a movie based on one of the greatest vampire stories ever written not be about vampires!? It’s fucking retarded. |

I feel like Robert Rodriguez could take $30 mil and make a whole I Am Legend movie that is more faithful to the book. I don't need to see the movie to know it isn't like the book since they specifically stated the vampires, or I guess zombies now, aren't going to be smart. If they aren't intelligent then that kind of defeats a big part of the book. |
