Kat Dennings, currently making hipster boys swoon in NICK AND NORAH’S INFINITE PLAYLIST, has signed on to co-star in the upcoming superhero flick DEFENDOR. Unlike your normal superhero movie, DEFENDOR tries to be something like HANCOCK but instead follows a regular guy (Woody Harrelson) who believes he’s a superhero even though he possesses no super powers. Dennings will play a teen that he befriends while figuring his identity out. The film will be written and directed by veteran TV actor Peter Stebbings. It’s unclear what kind of budget DEFENDOR is working with but it’s an indie production at this point so it’s very likely that it won’t be heavy on special effects. Dennings can be seen next in the Robert Rodriguez film SHORTS (where it was rumored, BTW, that she came in between Rodriguez and then girlfriend Rose McGowan). Filming on DEFENDOR is expected to begin this November in Toronto.
