Jason Segel set to romance Cameron Diaz

Jason Segel has signed on to co-star with Cameron Diaz in the upcoming black comedy BAD TEACHER. Diaz has been set to star alongside Lucy Punch, who will play her rival teacher, a perky goody-two-shoes named Amy Squirrel but the love interest had yet to be cast. And it has still yet to be cast.

While it may seem that Segel would be perfect for the role of the model teacher Scott the two female teachers are fighting over, that role remains uncast and Segel will instead be playing a supporting role as the school’s gym teacher (a role I don’t even remember being in the original script). I’m a little unclear whether the role is new or leading type role or something on a supporting level. Also joining the film’s cast is John Michael Higgins who will play Principal Snur.

Jake Kasdan is directing the film for Columbia based on the script by Lee Eisenberg and Gene Stupnitsky. Filming is expected to begin next month in Los Angeles.
