INT: Jonathan Levine

I should have anticipated the writer-director of an original and fresh coming-of-age film to be as mad cool and young as Jonathan Levine. He received great recognition for his first feature film ALL THE BOYS LOVE MANDY LANE, after its debut at the Toronto Film Festival in 2006. Reflecting back on his youthful experiences during the 90’s, Levine demonstrates his creativity and talent by scripting his forthcoming humorous flick THE WACKNESS.

Starring some of the industries most brilliant actors like Ben Kingsley, Josh Peck and Famke Janssen, THE WACKNESS captures the essence of NYC life in the mid 90’s. Utilizing authentic slang, hip hop and classic adolescent pressures, the film reflects upon a NYC teenager’s issues during an era of transformation under Giuliani’s rule. It was “dope” chatting with the self proclaimed Joblo.com fan about his own youth, love of hip hop and social pressures when I recently had the pleasure of interviewing him. Check out what Levine had to say.
