We interview Fede Alvarez, Stephen Lang and the cast of Don’t Breathe!

Last Updated on July 31, 2021

I am a huge fan of Fede Alvarez and his take on EVIL DEAD. It was bloody, suspensful and pretty damn inventive. It also happened to be one of my favorite horror films the year it came out. In his latest, he may not be going for the gore, but it doesn’t need any of that to be one of the scariest films of the year. DON’T BREATHE is a terrifying tale of three young people who decide to rob the home of a blind man. They soon learn that it is very easy to underestimate someone who must protect his home any way he can. And yes, there is a ton more that I won’t mention. This is a hell of a great film.

Recently at the junket for DON’T BREATHE, we spoke to Fede about taking on something original. And while I was thrilled to see what he brought to the world of EVIL DEAD, it is all the more exciting to see him tell a brand new story. He discussed creating one of the creepiest scenes of the year, and what drove him to do something that wasn’t a remake or a sequel. This is one talented fellow who has given us something to get excited about in the world of horror.

As well, we sat down with the impressive cast including Jane Levy, Dylan Minnette and Daniel Zovatto. They discussed playing characeters with questionable ethics, and Ms. Levy talked about once again really going through the ringer with Alvarez. And next up, we spoke to Stephen Lang who has had one impressive year with this and BAND OF ROBBERS. The actor talked about playing a blind man who has a secret or two. Lang’s “Blind Man” is absolutely incredible, and will undoubtedly become a new genre icon.

DON’T BREATHE is one of the best horror flicks this year, and that is actually saying something. Make sure you check it out this weekend at a theatre near you.
