Hellraiser remake to be written by Clive Barker and will star Doug Bradley as Pinhead!

Last Updated on July 23, 2021

Clive Barker took to Facebook today to drop some fantastic news as he has announced that he will be writing a new script for a HELLRAISER remake, his 1987 directorial debut. And not only will Barker write the new screenplay, but he has secured an agreement from distributor Weinstein Co. for the one and only Doug Bradley to reprise his role as the iconic villain Pinhead.

There's even better news though, here's what Barker had to say:

Today I have officially been invited to write the script…” Barker wrote. “What can I tell you about it? Well, it will not be a film awash with CGI. I remain as passionate about the power of practical make-up effects as I was when I wrote and directed the first HELLRAISER. Of course the best make-up in the world loses force if not inhabited by a first-rate actor. I told the Dimension team that in my opinion there could never be a Pinhead without Doug Bradley, and much to my delight Bob Weinstein agreed.

Now this is a remake I can see fans rallying behind. If you're gonna re-visit an iconic film like HELLRAISER then there's no better way to bring it back to life than with its original talent involved. And to top it all off, Barker is taking the practical effects route once again which brings a huge smile to my horror loving face. There you have it, Pinhead will terrorize the silver screen once again by the hands of Clive Barker and Doug Bradley. It's about to get wet in here folks!
