Friend Request, starring Alycia Debnam-Carey, coming in October

We reported back in January that Freestyle Media would be distributing director Simon Verhoeven's "fast paced psychological horror/thriller" FRIEND REQUEST, and now we know exactly when the company will be releasing the film. Freestyle is hoping you'll accept their FRIEND REQUEST when it opens in theatres on October 8th.

Starring Fear the Walking Dead's Alycia Debnam-Carey, FRIEND REQUEST tells the following story:

A college student faces unexpected and grave consequences when she unfriends a female loner from her high school on social media. Soon after, she and her friends are stalked by a demonic force.

Brit Morgan, Connor Paolo, and William Moseley (who is not the Bill Moseley who played Chop Top) also star.

Verhoeven wrote the screenplay with Matthew Ballen and Philip Koch. While they were working with a bit of a laughable concept here, it does look like Verhoeven managed to turn the idea into a decent supernatural horror film. One that's somewhat reminiscent of the surprisingly entertaining UNFRIENDED.
