My main man El Mayimbe at Latino Review got his hands on the script for SUPERMAX, the Green Arrow film in development at Warner Bros. David Goyer rewrote the script originally written by Justin Marks (STREET FIGHTER: THE LEGEND OF CHUN-LI). The film, if you remember, is a Green Arrow movie that's not your ordinary origin superhero movie. In the film Arrow is sentenced to prison after being set up for murder. While in the Supermax prison (set up for supervillains) he needs to escape with the help of the villains he set out to stop. Sez Mayimbe of the script: The script delivers on all levels and I think, Goyer has himself another winner here. The studio would be on crack not to make this. The script alones deserves it’s own graphic novel in the least. They also scoop the villains who will appear in the film and they include Shock Trauma, Gemini, Icicle, Split, Floronic Man, Vertigo, Calculator, Blockbuster and more (including cameos from classic DC villains like Joker, Lex Luthor and Riddler). Check out their article here for even more on the film!

First of Drexxell, just because YOU dont know dick about these characters that means this movie wont work? Green Arrow is a very popular character in DCU and has been for quite some time. Did you guys know that Kevin SMith(yes that kevin smith) did one of the best green arrow storylines ever? And now b/c of Smallville he is a lot more popular than you think. |

NO NO NO NO NO!
LMAO. This is an absolutely horrible idea.
"C" list hero, "D" list villains, and a ho-hum story. No one outside of fairly serious comic book geeks or Smallville watchers knows about this guy. He is a "sidekick" character in a major hero movie, nothing more.
Things that work in the comics world do not always transfer to the big screen. This is one of them.
This will flop bigger than "Speed Racer" if they go ahead as-is. Whomever greenlights this deserves to lose whatever money they front to it. I can't believe anyone older than 5 would actually think this is a good idea. |

read my post, shatterthenight. If it's well written enough, it doesn't matter who they are. |

In first reading this idea I thought it sounded really cool. But upon reading some of the comments I have to agree with Primogen. Whats Green Arrow without his bow and high tech arrows. Just another guy who's good at hand to hand combat and really smart. This would work just as good as a Question or Wildcat movie but then most people would be asking the question, well who the hell are they. |

I'm actually really excited for this! I'm glad there's finally a movie that decides to switch up the superhero formula. I don't know much about the Green Arrow, but maybe that's good in a movie like this. |

DREXXEL AND PRIMOGEN
Primogen and drexxell, i think the both are missing the point. Drexxel, I think it's a great intro for Green Arrow, and who cares if the mainstream doesn't know who he is. It didn't hurt Iron Man or Blade. And Primogen, making him just a dude without powers make a better challenge for him. Green Arrow has to use his wits to get out of that, without his bow and arrows, and that makes for a fun movie..i hope |

HMMM...SOMEONE CLUE ME IN...
Someone clue me in...as someone who never read Green Arrow or can remember ever seeing him in a cartoon or movie, how would this work?
I can see "Batman goes to jail" since Batman is a cultural icon. But Green Arrow? I barely know the difference between him, Green Hornet and Green Lantern. And don't know the names (let alone storylines or powers) of those villains. So...again...would this really work considering that a generic superhero/fantasy/gamer geek "fanboy" like me doesn't know dick about any of these chracters? |

WHAT'S THE APPEAL?
The Green Arrow in prison is simply a guy in prison -- he has no super powers, and without his bow, trick arrows, or costume, he's just another inmate. True, some of the other inmates will have super powers, but the premise isn't as interesting if the protagonist doesn't have an innate super power too. |

but leave The Joker out of it. If they do that, I'll give it a shot. |

COULD BE GOOD, DEPENDS ON WHO DIRECTS
scenario could be a smart way to introduce us into a wider dc universe than just the limited batman and superman ones |
