If director David Fincher actually makes half the projects he attaches himself to, he’ll be working well into his Clint Eastwood years.
Fincher is now set to adapt Charles Burns’ subversive and f*cked-up graphic novel BLACK HOLE, taking over the reins from the previously involved Alexandre Aja (THE HILLS HAVE EYES). The grotesque tale of depravity and deformity follows a group of 1970s-era teens who contract a sexually transmitted disease that produces horrifying physical mutations.
Roger Avary and Neil Gaiman did a previous draft, but it’s unknown if Fincher will start fresh with a new script (although Gaiman mentions it on his journal as a project he’s currently working on). Fincher will eventually finish THE CURIOUS CASE OF BENJAMIN BUTTON with cohort Brad Pitt, and is also attached to (among other things) the Euro hitman comic THE KILLER, the long-in-the-works sci-fi tale RENDEZVOUS WITH RAMA, and the Eliot Ness murder mystery TORSO, based on the graphic novel.
