CASKETMOUTH...
It's no more "mornonic" than the people claiming ethnicity is irrelevant, he okay as a "white" character...
In any event, you DO make a good point in that the Wachowski's at least had some good movies, so it was expected "Speed Racer" would be good as well. |

retards who say ethinicity is irrelevant then lets make him black??!!! morons. The culture is set in Asia as much as Superman is a Caucasian JEW...get outta here with that BS. Goku should be portrayed by an Asian and that's that, but I will give it a chance. Only prob is at least wachowskis had a great line of films under their belt to give me hope in their ability to Turn an anime live action. They did a BRILLIANT job. As for This guy, his movies are not that great or visionary but rather BLAND. That is another reason nobody has faith unless ur an over geeked fan. Sorry but this picture does nothing to change my perception on how this movie will turn out. I originally hated on ledger as Joker but he died shuttin my ass up, so maybe it'll work, but so far I have no reason to give a shit. At least pictures of joker surfacing were astounding. |

Goku is an alien as you mentioned, so his ethnicity is irrelevant. However, suddenly ethnicity becomes an issue with you or even skin color when a non-white is brought up?
You DO realize that there are many dark-skinned Asians, and even some "white" people with varying hues; and fair-skinned "black" people right?
So, you believe if a black male (or even a dark-hued Asian--as Indians, some Japanese, Chinese or even Hispanics have varying skin tones) tried out for the role, he should have been bypassed for his race or skin tone.
However, a white person should be allowed because suddenly ethnicity doesn't matter. (And maybe, depending on the skin tone, you'll allow an Asian to play the role, but NOT an Asian, or Asian Indian who is dark! That's wrong).
Interesting...a double standard.
"Whites only...!"
or
"If you have the right skin color...a non-white may be allowed in the role."
Interesting...! Sounds similar to the early days of Hollywood. (And even more interesting, the characters of Dragonball z were based on Asian lore, so you would think there would be a big Asian influence on the film!)

Goku has light skin and dark hair. Those are the only ethnic clues we are given. Any mix of asian, caucasian, central-european, or the like could fit the bill. He's clearly not black, indian, persian, or any ethnicity of dark-skinned people. |

"Haven't you seen Steel????!! Shaq IS superman."
Let's not mention that travesty. Please.
And, "Steel" was just that: Steel. Not Kal-el aka Clark Kent aka Superman. (The film wasn't even a faithful rendition of the comic).

Never read the books or seen more then 10 minutes of the cartoon so I've no comment on the movie.
The people commenting on the linked website seem to think it's just shy of an orgasim. Plants or are fans polarized by potential suck? |

ISN'T GOKU SUPPOSED TO BE WESTERN LOOKING?
Every time I've had the misfortune of seeing anything Dragonball related, that character has always been drawn with the stereotype western look that the Eastern artists draw with huge big eyes.
Anyway, isn't Goku just the same character as Monkey from the 70's TV show, essentially? Its the same story! |
