Cruise for President May. 16, 2008
Source: Moviehole by: Omar Aviles

Tom Cruise Earlier this month, we told you about a political thriller Tom Cruise was in discussion to star alongside Denzel Washington titled THE 28TH AMENDMENT from director Phillip Noyce and red hot scribes Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci. At the time, we weren't aware of who Cruise would be playing but today Moviehole is reporting that Mr. Couch Assaulter is in talks to play none other than the President of the United States. And his nemesis? Denzel Washington. In the film, Cruise discovers that the US is really being run by a secret organization run by Washington. Needless to say, crazy shit goes down. As soon as we learn more, we'll let you know.

Extra Tidbit: Remember artist Daniel Edward's bronzed depiction of Suri Cruise' first poop? That wasn't weird at all.

Woah, are you saying America is not run by Bush?

And that the secret organization is that run by the black guy?

What ever, i'm really hip to this news, sound like pretty original and creative idea for a movie.

AREN'T YOU A LITTLE SHORT FOR A PRESIDENT?
I thought this was gonna be about Cruise becoming the prez of SeaOrg (which he's probably next in line for).

kdraines...

I couldn't have posted anything better or more truthful. I never understood the Katie bashing in Begins. She did fine and got the job done. I will be there opening day for Dark Knight but recasting when it is not neccesary is one of my biggest pet peeves (JLA will Suck). Also, everything you said about Cruise is point on. Cruise is a great actor and puts out great, entertaining (and usually amazing) fils every year and this one will be no different...

I CAN'T DISLIKE CRUISE
At worst he's a misguided Scientology victim. But I don't hate Scientologists, I hate Scientology. I lost one of my closest friends to Sceintology over a decade ago (no, he's not dead, but he may as well be) so I have no love for that psycho cult.

That being said, Cruise puts out solid films and his dedication to making them succeed is evident. How can I dislike him for wanting to make and, indeed, making some really good films?

While were on the subject of Cruise lore, I'm really pissed that Katie Holmes got fired from "The Dark Knight." This is fan hatred run amok. Don't get me wrong, I love Maggie Gyllenhaal, but there is absolutely nothing wrong with Holmes' performance in "Batman Begins," and every time I watch it that faith is re-established. I don't mind switching actors when necessary (when they're too old or dead) but this was just a cheap shot.

As for this particular movie, I think Denzel would make a more believable president. But Cruise has sort of cornered the market on that disbelieving "what's going on here" look that he does so well. But I think playing the villain worked great for him in "Collateral" and he should not be afraid to do it again.
