Actress Charlize Theron, who is kind of attractive if you're into, um... women (particularly ones who look like Charlize Theron), may be about to get those elegant hands bloody.
According to a recent interview with The Boston Globe (which you can read in its entirety RIGHT HERE), Charlize plans to produce and star in a remake of Korean director Park Chan-Wook's SYMPATHY FOR LADY VENGEANCE. This is the first I've heard about this repeated creature of lethal grace, but if there's any truth to it, I suppose it will make the trades in short order.
The gorgeous and unsettling original movie (released in the US as just LADY VENGEANCE) is the devastating denouement to Park's thematically linked "revenge trilogy," following the shattering SYMPATHY FOR MR. VENGEANCE and the savage OLDBOY. The story revolves around a beautiful woman wrongly imprisoned for the murder of a child and her subsequent complex plans for retribution.
Charlize will next appear in the dreary drama SLEEPWALKING, and is about to hit THE ROAD with Viggo Mortensen in an adaptation of Cormac McCarthy's post-apocalyptic novel.
