A couple of days ago I was vilified for admitting that Nic Cage's latest
BANGKOK DANGEROUS had slipped by my radar. In no way am I excusing my apparent buffoonery, but I'm just saying I miss Cage-oriented announcements such as this. The Oscar-winner has signed on to star in the Matthew Vaughn-directed KICK-ASS, an adaptation of the violent Mark Millar comic book.
The comic book centers on high school nerd Dave Lizewski who decides to become a superhero even though he has no athletic ability or coordination. Things change when he ultimately runs into real bad guys with real weapons. Aaron Johnson will play the title character and Cage will star as a former cop who aids and probably abets our hero. If a stellar plot isn't enough to tickle your fancy, consider this: McLovin!

The violence in this film has put off many major studios but Vaughn has raised $30 million himself.
