When the remake of John Carpenter’s classic ESCAPE FROM NEW YORK was first announced, Gerard Butler initially signed on to slap on the eye patch to portray Snake Plissken. He quickly came to his senses and dropped out of the project and now the folks over at Spielberg News are saying that Josh Brolin is in the running to portray the role made iconic by Kurt Russell. Of course, they didn’t say that he’s signed or that he’s been approached, merely that he’s “in the running”, meaning that he’s likely one of many who are being considered.
