When we first heard about the (non-movie related) BATMAN game ARKHAM ASYLUM, the game's writer Paul Dini (of BATMAN: THE ANIMATED SERIES) promised that the voice talent would be in line with creating the "ultimate Batman experience."
Fans of that outstanding animated show will be in heaven: the game will feature actors Kevin Conroy as the Dark Knight, and Mark Hamill as his lunatic nemesis the Joker.
The cinematic game is due next year, and lets players "be the Bat" as the Joker gets locked up in the nuthouse of the title, and (unsurprisingly) manages to take control of the place. The experience will allow the digital hero to lurk in shadow and pummel foes with hand-to-hand combat skills.
Aside from Joker and his painted followers, Batman will also face Harley Quinn, Zsasz, Killer Croc and potentially the Riddler, Scarecrow, Poison Ivy, Mr. Freeze and others. But he'll have Commissioner Gordon, Oracle and an array of gadgets (including the Batarang, which can be "steered" mid-flight) on his side. The game will run on the latest Unreal engine (as GEARS OF WAR 2) and should be as detailed as it is atmospheric.
Extra Tidbit:
As far as I'm concerned, Conroy is the only actor to properly demonstrate the vocal variation between playboy Bruce Wayne and the brooding nocturnal crimefighter. Keep trying, Mr. Bale -- just tone it down a few notches.

BALE'S VOICE
One thing has bugged me about "The Dark Knight" since watching it. When Batman and Lucius Fox are talking about (SPOILER ALERT) having "ultimate power" with the cellphone listening technology, why is Bale still using the deep voice? I mean, Fox knows who he is! Why wouldn't he say, "Hey Lucius, check out this great new tech" in his regular voice? He does the same thing when communicating with him while trying to find the Joker and when the cops are hitting the building. I just don't get it. |

BALE VOICE AND GAME
Bale's voice is a bit off-putting, but its never been that bad, and I agree toning it down a bit would help... I mean in the world of superheroes, a pair of glasses or tiny black eye mask is enough for an audience to believe people cant discover his identity... Bale doesnt need to cover his voice so dramatically and obviously, even in nolans more realistic universe....
... on the subject of the game, I am already interested in it, and the voices are just icing on the cake...
But I am also questioning it after I heard that batman has a satellite batcave under the asylum... Um okay, Im not an expert, so maybe thats in some comic, but that is pretty stupid and weird, I think. |

ENOUGH ABOUT THE VOICE..
It wasn't that fucking bad. It was worse in Begins than in Dark Knight.
Can't wait for this game btw.

AWESOME
Hamill will always be the Joker to me, over Jack and Heath.
Maybe it's because it was my first encounter with the character in motion, maybe it's because he really is the best man for the part. I don't know. |

BEST NEWS EVER
Yah, this is awesome. Conroy is the defintivie Batman as far as I'm concerned, and the same goes for Hamill's Joker. You read the comics and it's so easy to hear their voices speaking the lines, unlike Bale where it's hard to even understand what he's saying. "Youllbeinapaddedcellforever!" It took me 3-4 viewings to understand what that line even was. |

AWESOMENESS
Conroy & Hamill rock these voice roles. For my money, Hammill has the best voice for the Joker. EVER. |
