Cap America plot! Oct. 6, 2008
Source: Prod. Weekly
by: James Thoo

Marvel appears to have revealed a plot synopsis of sorts for THE FIRST AVENGER: CAPTAIN AMERICA. While it could still ultimately deviate from this, it's nice to see that at least at this point, it looks like they're staying pretty close to the original mythos.

"Born during the Great Depression, Steve Rogers grew up a frail youth in a poor family. Horrified by the newsreel footage of the Nazis in Europe, Rogers was inspired to enlist in the army. However, because of his frailty and sickness, he was rejected. Overhearing the boy’s earnest plea, General Chester Phillips offered Rogers the opportunity to take part in a special experiment… Operation: Rebirth. After weeks of tests, Rogers was at last administered the ‘Super-Soldier Serum’ and bombarded by ‘vita-rays.’ Steve Rogers emerged from the treatment with a body as perfect as a body can be and still be human. Rogers was then put through an intensive physical and tactical training program. Three months later, he was given his first assignment as Captain America. Armed with his indestructible shield and and battle savvy, Captain America has continued his war against evil both as a sentinel of liberty and leader of the Avengers."

So now the question is who will play ol' Cap. I still like Matt McConaughey but what the hell do I know. I lost a sizeable amount of my savings on the Oscars and Amy Ryan. I also bet on WALL-E to be the biggest earner this Summer. I am not the person for film-related predictions. What do I look like a freaking psychic??

Extra Tidbit: And don't even trouble yourself with those Will Smith rumors.

SLOW DOWN WALT
Slow down walt. Your a crazy guy. Mcconahe is NOT the same Calibur actor as Downey and Norton. You lost all crediblity with that comment. Norton is an Amazing actor by the way he is a far better actor than Matt. Primal Fear? Hello, damn i cant believe i just read that. Dont even get me started on Downey. The man is a top five actor in MOST peoples favorite actors. Holy Shit you cant be serious.

I thought they would have set it in modern times but still cool. I'm all for McConaughey as Caps too. He's of the acting caliber(despite alot of his horrible script choices) and generation of Norton and Downey Jr, plus his career could REALLY use a pick-me-up. Think of that team up on screen for the Avengers movie: Downey Jr., Norton(hopefully) and McConaughey...I'm fucking down. Now what about Thor???

I think that we might need to focus on is the fact that this guy is going to be leading a lot of famous actors into battle and my feeling for the only person to do this is Mark Wahlberg.

MY PICK FOR CAPTAIN AMERICA...
My pick for Captain America would either be:

1. Brad Pitt
2. Matthew Fox

If this movie was made a while back, I think Val Kilmer would have made a hell of a Captain America.

This movie is going to be awesome!

Aaron Eckhart looks like Cap, and we all know he can act...He would be perfect for the live-action Cap

I couldnt agree more with you. Proyas is a dark director Dark City and I, Robot was pretty dark also. He would do an Awesome Daredevil reboot. i say give Damon the Daredevil reboot and show Affleck how to do an Action movie. Ouch.

Lastly the female is also very important. If Paltrow wasnt so damn Hot as a red head i might not have seen Iron man for the 4th time. WoW. Im sold.

Love it, Luke. Thanks. Lets hope for a Kick Ass flick regardless of who directs and acts in it. I want to see the great story of Captain America put up on the Big Screen, Period

If they dont go with a no-name actor, then I like Adam Baldwin as Captain America (right size, age, and voice), with Martin Campbell (casino royale) to direct.

Agree... Deadshot pretty much nailed the ending. That'd be the perfect segue into an Avengers movie.

Proyas is an awesome director, but his films tend to be pretty dark whereas Capt. America would need to be relatively uplifting. Proyas would be better suited for the Daredevil reboot. Eastwood would be an absolute dream choice to direct, but I'm not sure he'd go for a comic flick. But who knows, I never would've expected Kenneth Branagh to either.

Captain America - Josh Duhamel
Bucky Barnes - Emile Hirsch
Red Skull - Jim Caviezel
Peggy Carter - Anne Hathaway
General Phillips - David Schofield
Dr. Abraham Erskine - Rade Šerbedžija

I think casting well known female lead like Hathaway would help offset the fact hat Duhamel's not a big name leading man.

Also nickula11, you realize Nick Nolte is 67, right?

WAKE UP
You guys are not paying attention to the times, man. Ridley Scott has an action flick out this week with Leo. Go watch it and then think it through. LEO being cap. If Ridley directs this with a lot of good action, Im kidding im not really saying this, Of Course the film will be well done. Then i nominated Leo as Cap and Ridley Scott directs. If this movie does well then Mark my words now! It will be a Leo/Ridley The First Avnger: Captain America movie. If it does shitty then fuck what i said.

DeadShot: Great ending, man. Dead on. Amazing film.

Call me Indiana: Im sorry i think that was your name. Im glad someone agrees with that and understands how amazing that movie would be with Eastwood directing it.

We need big names in this flick not some frickin dude from BattleStar Galatica. Wow dude stop with that. This film is going to need some Heavy Hitters. Leo (If his new film does well), Matt Damon, Brad Pitt even. If Kate Hudson is in Captain then im ok with Mcconahey or however you want to spell it.

Dont forget this film has to have a great Action Director behind the lens. That is Key.
