Could Sylvester Stallone be thinking about a Rambo prequel?!

Here at AITH we strictly deal with anything and everything horror related. Though sometimes we break the mold a bit to tell you all about action flicks that just scream AITH. Needless to say one franchise that has always done that was RAMBO. So whenever there's news breaking on another RAMBO film you can bet your ass we're going to tell you about it! Actually...here's something we really should've seen coming: Could Sylvester Stallone be toying around with the idea of a RAMBO prequel? It seems the vetern action star has considered it folks!

Now the last we heard RAMBO V was getting a face-lift and going back to it's roots, rather than centering on 'Rambo' chasing some creature in the forest. So we've got that to be thankful for. But then again, Stallone himself had the following to say to Empire recently:

"The character came full circle [in the fourth film]; he went home. For Rambo to go on another adventure might be misinterpreted as a mercenary gesture and not necessary."

So now the project is dead? Come on man, make up your mind! I don't know about you guys but I dug the sh*t out of RAMBO and I'm all for the action hero making another comeback. But could Stallone be thinking of going the prequel route? The filmmaker was recently asked a question pertaining to the possibilites of a prequel in a recent Q and A over at Ain't It Cool News and the action star responded with the following:

"I certainly think this is worth pondering because it’s intriguing to find the whys and wherefores of how people have come to become what they are. The traumas, the loss and the tragedy of being in Vietnam would certainly be a great challenge for a young actor and it would be ironic that Rambo directs younger Rambo after having played it for 20 plus years."

Now I'm sure the thought has crossed a lot of minds over the years but did anyone really believe there'd be talk of a RAMBO prequel? I'm not even sure how I feel about this one... Even if Stallone is involed, which is probably safe to say he would be... I just don't know how I'd feel about someone else playing 'John Rambo.' Actually my stomach is doing flops just thinking about it... Let's just drop this one Sly and concentrate on THE EXPENDABLES 2, shall we?
